Singer-songwriter Hak Baker’s home was in the Isle of Dogs in East London. He remembers sitting in the kitchen as a young child, listening to his mother and sister sing ‘Redemption Song’, while oxtail soup cooked on the stove. After winning a singing competition in primary school, Hak claims he was tricked into joining a choir, where his rare vocal talent was unearthed, and where he first encountered true diversity. Since the release of debut EP Misfits, Hak has gone from strength to strength playing international shows and being named ‘Best singer-songwriter’ as part of Capital Xtra’s Music Potential Programme.
